the cult of celebrity
2 September, 2008
In the news, I have heard the name Rihanna and Chris Brown a lot lately. The existence of the rumor was trigger from the two young celebrities exit from Manhattan Hotel.
They were fame for singing and dancing, and they are not just a pretty face, they actually have talents and put efforts into it.
A gossip was spread around that they both want a place together in Beverly Hills, a source told press, “Rihanna and Chris want to live together. They both like playing at home so the place needs to have noise isolation.”
Another one is that Chris Brown bought a Ferrari F430 Spider that cost a quarter of a million for Rihanna. As tabloid’s tell that Brown took Rihanna “to a Los Angeles Ferrari dealer last week and asked her which car she most wanted.
These people surely have a very high living costs, as you can see by the way they dress and the places they go.
We can find out about them from the internet, or from TV or magazines.
Olympics 2008
25 August, 2008
In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Indonesia won 5 medals, better performance compared to Athens 2004 (4 medals).
I Gusti Oka Sulaksana from Bali, he is a professional windsurfer and sailor. He, represented Indonesia, in the 2008 Beijing olympics, to be the flag bearer.
We performed better in weightlifting and also in badminton. Badminton has always been Indonesia’s best performance in the olympics in every year.
This year, men doubles by Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan won the gold medal in the field, defeating China’s Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng. That is, sadly, the only gold medal we got in the olympics. But that’s OK! I believe Indonesia will rise someday. =)
Also in Badminton, Liliyana Natsir and Nova Widianto striked in mixed doubles, and failed to beat Korea, and lost by 10 points in the first round and 4 in the second.
Maria Kristin Yulianti won a bronze medal in women’s single.
In weightlifting sport, my country rise a bit. We won 2 medals, both bronze. A good start for a brighter year in olympics.
The loses are soooooooo many,
archery, athletics, sailing, shooting and swimming.
Oh well, at least we did better than 44 other countries listed on the medal table.
We lost but yes, I still am, and will always be, proud to be Indonesian. Just like your patriotic spirit for Canada, Ms. D =)

1.At the end of the class, my students will know:
“how to make a stop-motion video and put music”
2. Before the class, I will need to bring/prepare/set-up the following things:
about 12 cameras and cables to connect to computer, hat as an object, laptop and charger, a default program you have on your laptop “Windows Movie Maker” to edit
3. To make my teaching successful, I will need to research the following:
“how to teach a class so it’s not boring” and an idea for stop motion so it looks good
4. I will need Ms. Dominico to help me with:
prepare a teaching material because it might not use the whole period
5. To make my presentation interactive I will plan the following activity:
i might use a student as an object for stop motion and also give my students time to make their own video and they can ask me for help as well
6. Here is a timed outline of my presentation:
First i will show one of my stop motion video (not yet on youtube so still a project) (10-30 seconds)

stop motion

Topic 3: Stop motion
Stop motion (or known by frame-to-frame) is an animation technique to make an object looks like its moving on its own. There are 2 techniques to make stop motion, one is by taking pictures and creating a photograph frame movement, or another one is taking video of it and using programs such as “Stop Motion Pro”, “istopmotion”, or “monkeyjam”, creating a video sequences or snapshots.
The first stopmotion video is the original 1933 kingkong movie. The quality was still low because the technology was not available. But the technique of making it is already the same.
I consider myself a ‘stop-motion artist’ because I make a lot of stop motions and now it is like part of my daily life. I don’t use the programs I listed below because I use the first technique and compiling it using Windows Movie Maker then add effects to it.
Making a stop motion is something I enjoy very much or you can call it my hobby and I want to be a professional at it. I also put my videos on youtube and hope to meet others stop motion makers to get feedback from them and at the same time gain more experience and inspiration.
street art

Topic 2: Street Art
Traditional graffiti artwork, stencil graffiti, sticker art, wheatpasting and street poster art, video projection, art intervention, guerrilla art, flash mobbing and street installations are street art. So basically street art is any art developed in public places.
The artists’ inspire themselves to draw something on the wall of the streets. Artists write complains of the society for a better world. But mostly, they just see the wall in the streets as a space of personal work. They do this to get more people to show interest in another genre of art other than arts in traditional artworks and galleries normally show.
My favorite bomber is Banksy, because he creates artworks that mostly complain about the politics system. He is a well-known worldwide bomber (street artist) but remains anonymous. Personally (no offense) I think he is weird because quoting from him, “I am unable to comment on who may or may not be banksy, but anyone described, as being good at drawing doesn’t sound like banksy to me.” Eventhough most of his artworks create controversy, he is the most significant street artist known in Melbourne and/or worldwide.
And did I tell you, he draws free hand.
pacman

Topic 1: Pacman
Pacman is a game from Namco and was released in 1930 for the first time. On its release it creates a new genre of 1980s popular culture for both men and women. Pacman become a ‘social phenomenon’ in our own world and is an inspiration for music and animated television series for children and adult. According to Davie Brown Index, in the USA, pacman is still the most recognized video games and even more famous than Super Mario Bros.
Toru Iwatani found Pacman, and the name was from a Japanese word “Paku Paku Taberu” which is a sound of a mouth movement when widely open and closed. The character shape was inspired from a pizza missing a slice and the word “Kuchi” that means eat in Japanese. For wider audiences’ attention, he added maze. And finally, the game was called Puck Man.
The player controls Pac-Man through a maze, eating pac-dots. When all dots are eaten, Pac-Man is taken to the next stage. Four ghosts (known to most gamers as Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) roam the maze, trying to catch Pac-Man. If a ghost touches Pac-Man, a life is lost. When all lives have been lost, the game ends. Pac-Man is awarded a single bonus life at 10,000 points by default.
The name changing from Puck Man to Pacman is for the North American market because the word “Puck” triggers vandals to change the letter P to F.
For me, Pacman is the most interesting video games, I can play it for hours, or days, and not get tired of it . J
